Take a Break!
In the last few months, I have been bogged down trying to juggle & balance several pillars of my life and found myself burning out quickly and often.
However, all I knew to do was put my head down and continue producing/working/creating.
“This too shall pass,” I would say to myself (and yes, I still believe this).
The problem was that my problem-solving abilities and creativity suffered. Sure, I kept working, but it wasn’t my best work.
I was not optimizing my mind, and therefore, I was not optimizing the results of my labor.
I decided that if I don’t make a change, a change will not happen. So the change I implemented was simple: Take a walk.
Take a walk, shower, read, go to the gym, or mow the lawn.
It doesn’t matter what it is all that much (though it is preferable you spend time outside).
Doing something different from the work you normally do allows you to reset, to literally & figuratively take a deep satisfying breath & open up mental space.
It feels counterintuitive. Especially so when you have looming deadlines and a never-ending flow of new tasks coming your way.
But, taking the time to create this mental space has such an amazing return on investment that I suggest you try it today. Turn off your monitor, step outside, breathe fresh air, and come back 15-20 minutes later, starting fresh and ready to tackle any challenge coming your way.
Hey, I’m curious!
I believe accountability is a superpower that helps you stay on the path of consistency in whatever it is you want to accomplish. I’m lucky enough to have my wife to hold me accountable for what I want to accomplish. Others, however, may not be as lucky to have anyone reliable enough to be an accountability partner.
I thought it could be valuable for people if I opened up an accountability community for a small monthly membership fee. In addition to being part of a community with other go-getters holding each other accountable, the membership would include videos, calls, articles, visuals, curation, and ebooks from me to help each member stay focused and consistent with their individual paths.
Would this be valuable to you? Could this potentially help you accomplish your goals? Let me know down in the comments or reply to this email and let me know either way!
Thanks so much for your time.
Cheers,
Elliott
